The Montreal Canadiens took first blood last night, scoring against Florida's Tomas Vokoun three minutes into the game, but the Panthers had the final say in a 2-1 win. A late third-quarter goal by Nathan Horton forced a shootout, and Vokoun denied the Canadiens another score, reports the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

After two Panthers came up empty in the shootout, Jozef Stumpel got around Montreal goalie Cristobal Huet for the winning goal. Florida improves to 3-3 after a game that the team "had no businesss winning," according to Mike Van Ryn. "It's an ugly win, but we'll take it." (More NHL stories.)
