The Colorado Rockies rode Jeff Francis' solid pitching performance to a win last night, their first in the NLCS against Arizona and their 18th in 19 games. Francis allowed one run in 6 2/3 innings in a game that Diamondback fans delayed in the 7th by throwing debris onto the field to protest a call, reports the Rocky Mountain News.

Interference was called on Arizona's Jason Upton when he tried to break up a double play by toppling Kaz Matsui off second base. When the dust (and garbage on the field) had cleared, Upton and batter Augie Ojeda were ruled out and a potential Arizona rally was effectively quashed. Brandon Webb took the loss for the Diamondbacks, who will face the Rockies again tonight. (More MLB stories.)
