Politics | polls Obama's Halo Undimmed by Blago: Poll Voters want more info about prez-elect's involvement in scandal By Kevin Spak Posted Dec 15, 2008 1:27 PM CST Copied President-elect Barack Obama pauses before answering a question about the federal investigation into Illinois Gov. (AP Photo/Gerald Herbert) The Rod Blagojevich scandal has done little to dent Barack Obama’s approval ratings, according to ABC’s polling guru: More than three-quarters of those surveyed give his handling of the transition a thumbs-up. But just 51% say Obama has done enough to explain his team’s discussions with the disgraced governor, with 34% saying he hasn’t done enough and 14% unsure. Obama’s numbers overall are remarkably high across party lines. A whopping 91% of Democrats approve of his handling of the transition, but so do 73% of independents, 59% of Republicans, and 65% of conservatives. When it comes to his home-state scandal, however, those numbers fall off, with just 33% of Republicans and 65% of Democrats feeling he’s explained himself enough.
