In another sign of the dire health of the newspaper business, leading Detroit newspapers are expected to announce this week that they're eliminating home delivery 4 days a week, the Wall Street Journal reports. The Detroit Free Press and the News would be the first major metropolitan papers to take such a step, sending readers instead to the newsstand and to expanded online editions.
Home delivery would be available only on the most ad-heavy days—Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. “It's time for us to look at some radical departures from our business model,” says the CEO of the firm that runs both papers.
