There’s a spot of good news for travelers amid the barrage of dire economic reports: Those looking for a flight, cruise, or hotel stay may find surprisingly good deals. As financial woes keep many Americans grounded, the travel industry is forced to drop prices to fill space, the Los Angeles Times reports. For the industry, “it’s very bad,” says a consultant.

Good news, then, for Joe the Traveler. “These are glorious times for travelers who have a job and the money,” says an expert. Last week, a Honolulu-Los Angeles roundtrip flight went for $244, the first time below $300 in recent memory. And Walt Disney World offered customers 3 free days’ park admission and hotel nights for planning a 4-day visit. (More travel stories.)
