Actor Shia LaBeouf has been arrested in New Orleans, where onlookers said he was partying hard during Mardi Gras. The actor faces two charges of simple battery and remains in custody ahead of a court appearance scheduled for 3pm local time Tuesday, reports Page Six. The alleged "brawl" erupted just after midnight outside a bar in the French Quarter, per TMZ, which shared video of a shirtless LeBeouf being treated by paramedics and then loaded into a parked ambulance "without looking too banged up." The actor appeared to be off the wagon in New Orleans, according to bar staff who said he'd been on an Uptown crawl since Thursday.
The actor, who has previously spoken about sobriety and linked past abusive behavior to alcoholism, was described by multiple employees as drunk and at times difficult, with one bartender declaring, "He is terrorizing the city!" per the Hollywood Reporter. Staff at Ms. Mae's, a 24/7 dive bar, said LaBeouf showed up shirtless, cashless, and "somewhat belligerent" on Sunday and tried to pay with a card despite numerous "Cash Only" signs. He also reportedly asked to work behind the bar. A doorman said "he did the 'Do you know who I am?' bit" before being asked to leave.
