Authorities have released the names of the three people killed in the Saturday night shooting at a waterfront bar in Southport, North Carolina, CBS News reports. The victims—36-year-old Solomon Banjo of Charlottesville, Virginia; 64-year-old Joy Rogers of Southport; and 56-year-old Michael Durbin of Galena, Ohio—were customers at the American Fish Company, a popular spot by the Cape Fear River, when they were fatally shot by a person on a boat. Five others were injured, though their identities have not been disclosed.

Rogers was remembered by her husband, Lennie, and her church community as a devoted wife, mother, and active member of Generations Church. "She lived up to her name—her spirit radiated joy, light, and kindness everywhere she went," her husband said, noting the family had moved to Southport for retirement just a year ago. Plans for a prayer vigil at the Southport Waterfront are in place for Saturday to honor all the victims.

The alleged shooter, 40-year-old Nigel Edge, is a Marine veteran who was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in the line of duty. He appeared in court on Monday and faces multiple charges, including three counts of first-degree murder and five counts of attempted murder. Prosecutors indicated they may pursue the death penalty. Edge is being held without bond and is scheduled for a probable cause hearing in mid-October. No alleged motive has yet been disclosed, but police have described the attack as "highly premeditated," NBC News reports. The county district attorney says Edge has mental health issues and a possible traumatic brain injury.
