Iran hasn't yet retaliated over the American bombing of its nuclear sites, but a flurry of developments out of Qatar suggests the Persian Gulf nation is bracing to receive some of the blow. As the Wall Street Journal reports, Qatar is home to the Al Udeid Air Base, which is America's biggest military installation in the Mideast.

  • The nation took the rare step of temporarily shutting down its airspace on Monday, reports Reuters. Qatari authorities cited a need to protect their own citizens as well as visitors amid the rising regional tension. The Doha airport there is one of the world's busiest.

  • The US embassy in Qatar put out an alert on Monday urging Americans in the country to "shelter in place until further notice," per the AP. The UK embassy then did the same for its citizens.
  • The BBC reports of a "credible threat" to the American military base, most likely in the form of an Iranian missile attack.
