A Michigan Democrat postponed a town hall planned for Monday after learning her name was on a list of apparent targets police have linked to the suspect in the Saturday shootings of two Minnesota lawmakers and their spouses. "West Michigan, I want nothing more than to hear from you in person during town halls and other events," US Rep. Hillary Scholten said in a post on X cited by the Hill. "However, after the events of this weekend, Team Scholten has decided to postpone our event tonight in Muskegon for the safety of everyone involved." Police found the list in a vehicle left at the crime scene, the AP reports. Police also revealed the suspect went to the homes of two other lawmakers Saturday, a state representative and a state senator, but no one was at either residence, the Guardian reports.

On the list were the names of dozens of Democrat legislators, many of them state and federal officials in Minnesota, but also including lawmakers from Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin. The AP rounds up the responses of some of those lawmakers, including another congresswoman, Rep. Debbie Dingell of Michigan, who held a Monday town hall as planned and told the crowd, "We cannot let terror terrorize us." Others were also vowing to push forward with their work. "We cannot allow people to divide us and then use violence to keep up those divisions," said Minnesota state Rep. Esther Agbaje, whose name was also on the list. The shootings killed former Democratic House Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, and injured Democratic Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette. (More Minnesota killings stories.)
