Justin Timberlake is in some legal trouble: The 43-year-old singer was arrested early Tuesday and charged with DWI, reports the New York Post and the AP. The arrest took place a little after midnight in Sag Harbor, New York, a coastal village in the Hamptons. TMZ reports that Timberlake allegedly blew a stop sign after leaving the American Hotel, where he was hanging out with friends. The outlet adds that Timberlake allegedly failed a field sobriety test and refused a Breathalyzer.
According to NBC News, arresting officer Michael Arkinson quoted Timberlake as saying, "I had one martini and I followed my friends home." In his arrest report, Arkinson wrote that "the defendant was operating said vehicle in an intoxicated condition in that his eyes were bloodshot and glassy, a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath, he was unable to divide attention, he had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests."
Timberlake was taken into custody and held overnight before being arraigned later Tuesday on one count of driving while intoxicated, reports CNN. He also was cited for running a stop sign and failing to keep in his lane. The entertainer was released without bail and has another court date scheduled for July 26. He is in the midst of a tour, with shows scheduled for Friday and Saturday in Chicago, and the following week at Madison Square Garden in New York.
