The mayor of a Chilean town has come up with a new way of securing support among voters: he's is handing out free Viagra. The mayor  of a working class suburb of the capital of Santiago has ordered physicians to hand out batches of the blue sex potency pills four times a month to men over 60.

The program will cost about $20,000 the first year. The mayor, a former doctor in the town, denied the free pills were intended to woo the electorate. "This is about giving our elderly population a better quality of life," he harrumphed. (More Chile stories.)
