Police Say Missing Jogger's Story Holds Up

California police still aren't revealing much about Sherri Papini's alleged kidnapping, but they do say that so far, her story holds up. "We currently have no reason to disbelieve Sherri Papini's story," said Shasta County Sheriff Tom Bosenko on Sunday. "She was assaulted and had injuries which she was treated for." Per California Highway Patrol dispatch logs, Papini was found around 4:30am Thursday "chained to something" and "heavily battered." ABC News quotes Bosenko as saying that police have looked into Papini's past, which includes a previous marriage.

The Sacramento Bee on Friday reported that some 20 search warrants have been filed, though some are sealed, and the case has taken detectives out of state. Online activity, bank records, cell tower information, and surveillance camera footage are all being reviewed. Police say they continue to look for two Hispanic women in a dark-colored SUV. The Bee noted that officials do not have any additional info about the women's dress or appearance.
