(Mike Spencer/The Star-News via AP) North Carolina has been plagued by shark attacks this month, with a 13-year-old girl injured June 11, two teens injured on June 14, and an 8-year-old boy bitten Wednesday. Today, another victim, plus one in South Carolina: A 47-year-old man swimming with a group near North Carolina's Avon beach today was bitten on the right leg and lower back while in waist-deep water, WCNC reports; he was airlifted to the hospital for treatment. Another man, this one a tourist from Pennsylvania, was bitten today while swimming off Hunting Island in South Carolina, the Charlotte Observer reports. He reportedly saw a four-foot shark nearby and called out, "Shark!" but was then attacked by a second shark. He was able to exit the water and is believed to have suffered only minor injuries.
