Marquette scored 17 straight points early in the second half to cruise to a 72-54 Big East win over No. 22 Pittsburgh last night, reports the AP. Jerel McNeal scored 17 points to lead the Golden Eagles (18-6, 8-5) and Ousmane Barrow scored 14 and grabbed 12 rebounds as Marquette out-rebounded Pitt 13-4 to start the second half.

The Golden Eagles finished the first half on a 12-4 run for a 33-23 halftime lead. The Panthers (19-6, 7-5) got 18 points from Sam Young, but they missed nine of their first 11 shots in the second half and turned the ball over eight times during Marquette's decisive run. (More NCAA stories.)
