The Panthers also managed to hold the NHL's leading scorer, Alex Ovechkin, to no points. He had nine goals in his previous seven games. The Panthers moved into a tie with Washington for third place in the Southeast Division with 60 points, which is only two behind leader Carolina. Nathan Horton and Kamil Kreps scored goals in the third period as Florida snapped a two-game skid. Tomas Vokoun stopped 30 shots to get the win for Florida.
