Call him the disco dictator. Sure, twenty-something Kim Jong Un is the most powerful man in North Korea and the focus of some cracking documentaries, but what's a supreme leader without a theme song? Well, Kim at last has a glorious toe-tapper to get the masses grooving to his authoritarian awesomeness, reports the Guardian. Strangely, though, "Onwards Toward the Final Victory" does not actually mention Kim by name, unlike similar songs written about his father and grandfather. "[Omitting his name] is probably related to the fact that he's so young they have to phase in the larger-than-life elements of his public persona," says one North Korea expert.
"The song hardens the will of the Korean army and people to devote their all to the prosperity of the country with high national pride," explains the Korean Central News Agency. The video is pretty snazzy, too, featuring fist-waving workers and plenty of heave weaponry (and some very nice shots of Mt. Baekdu, the ancestral home of Koreans, according to legend).
