Politics | Rick Perry Rick Perry: God Forgives 'Oops' Moments Says he's 'praying' for Obama's wisdom By Kevin Spak Posted May 2, 2012 11:09 AM CDT Copied In this Nov. 9, 2011 file photo, then-Republican presidential candidate Texas Gov. At a National Day of Prayer breakfast today, Perry was introduced with a crack about his infamous "oops" moment. "You meant to say 'whoop' as a proud Texas Aggie," the host said, according to the Houston Chronicle. Perry was unconcerned. "Every one of us has 'oops moments' every day," he said. "America may not forgive you for it, but God will." Perry urged those gathered to pray for service members, first responders, farmers, and even President Obama—although that last was something of a backhanded prayer. "Let’s pray for our president, for his wisdom. I pray that God pierces his heart," Perry said. Then in an apparent reference to abortion he prayed for Obama to "truly understand God's will to protect innocent life. I pray for his true understanding of God's will for this country."
