For the third straight season, and the ninth time in his eleven-year career, Tiger Woods was yesterday voted PGA Tour Player of the Year, the AP reports. "Every year has been an unbelievable year," said tour veteran Jeff Sluman. Fellow pro Steve Stricker, who once again won comeback player of the year, said simply "I don't think it's getting closer."
Tiger himself was more critical, arguing that for a few missed opportunities, 2007 could have been as big as his remarkably dominant 2000 season. "I had a great chance to win three of the four majors this year. I finished second in two of them...If I get those done...people would probably be comparing it to 2000, if not better."
