Schuller had “wanted to add board members,” but the board “didn't want that because they would lose control,” said his son. “They kicked him off ... I feel bad for him because he's had to watch his life's work go down the toilet the last three years.” After Schuller’s exit, “it's a church now without any type of draw," worries a former board member. "They are going to dwindle down to nothing." It emerged in May that the cathedral itself would be sold to help fend off debt.
