House Ethics Panel Deliberating Rangel's Fate

The show went on after Charlie Rangel stormed out of his own ethics hearing today, as House Ethics chair Zoe Lofgren declared the facts in the case accurate, clearing the way for the committee's decision. The panel is expected to rule that Rangel violated at least some ethics rules, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The lawmaker faces 13 separate counts of violating House rules, mainly stemming from allegedly not reporting assets or income on his taxes. But the ruling will likely to be nothing more than a formal reprimand, so Rangel, who just won re-election, looks set to remain in the House.
