Neal Colgrass was educated at McGill University, cut his journalistic teeth as desk editor at the Morristown Citizen Tribune in Tennessee, then covered three Los Angeles-area municipalities reporting for the Wave Newspaper Group. He has also written scripts and film treatments for Rhombus Media and served five years as senior editor at Holloway House Publishing Co. in Los Angeles. He is currently making a documentary about his father, composer Michael Colgrass. He joined Newser in 2007.
